Title: Inactive Items Post by Dawn on 08/07/07 at 12:40:43 I have certain items that are no longer being used but I do not want to delete all the information or backup for it. Is there a way to prevent these items from being entered into sales orders and purchase orders? |
Title: Re: Inactive Items Post by Lynn_Pantic on 08/07/07 at 13:03:44 If you have the IS Tech DBA updates installed, then yes, you can change the Active Status in IN-B to "O" for Obsolete. That will keep the history but prevent them from being used, bought or sold. |
Title: Re: Inactive Items Post by Dawn on 08/08/07 at 12:15:37 It says "Has records in Physical Inventory module". Is it refering to all the activity that has transacted. I don't want to lose that. |
Title: Re: Inactive Items Post by Theran on 08/08/07 at 15:58:44 It is referring to PI Physical Inventory. The module that you use to record your physical inventories. You need to Purge your physical inventory(s) using PI-H. You will not lose any historical information of any use. I asked this same question 3-4 years ago. There is a thread somewhere related to this topic. |

Title: Re: Inactive Items Post by Dawn on 08/10/07 at 09:17:17 I have about 20 items that won't let me make them Obsolete. It says that there are INVTXN amounts. Two of them have sales orders attached to them. I checked and these SO are from 1998. How do I get rid of these? |
Title: Re: Inactive Items Post by cathyh on 08/10/07 at 09:45:06 This was one reason why I ended up purging really old sales orders (SM-J-J). Also, archiving WO's if the item is manufactured helps. This might even apply if it is a R type item issued to a work order. Also, consolidating inventory transactions might help. I've done that also. |
Title: Re: Inactive Items Post by Lynn_Pantic on 08/10/07 at 10:32:01 It doesn't care if there are Inventory Transactions but if the net balance of the transactions is not 0, then it will not let you make them obsolete. If you have 0 on hand, use SM-J-C, Transaction level, method A and it will create a balancing transaction so the net of transactions equals the current total on hand. |
Title: Re: Inactive Items Post by Dawn on 08/10/07 at 11:12:00 I went and change the type of item from F to N and then made it obsolete and it accepted it. Which is weird because some of the other items I made obsolete were left as F. I don't understand that logic but it stops me from trying to add the item in a sales order which is exactly what I want. However I still can not make the two that have sales orders attached to them from 1998 obsolete. I tried the SM-J-J and it says there are no open sales orders in that date range. When I look at the SO button in the item screen it has a negative quatity on order. Could that be causing it. |
Title: Re: Inactive Items Post by cathyh on 08/10/07 at 12:13:24 When I tried to make several (many) F type items obsolete, the message was there were work orders associated with the item, and I could not make them obsolete. These are WO's from 2004 finished and closed and shipped. This might have been before the 5/31 update. I just tried it again with one of the parts I made D instead of O the last time I tried it. When I hit the save button I got an "access violation at address 00996EB3 in module 'evoerp.exe' Read of address 00000324." message. But the item status changed from D to O. |
