Title: New computer, new OS, what now? Post by EMIAnn on 09/25/07 at 12:49:01 I have been running DBA 2002.4 on Windows 95 (Yes. I know. We call it computing Amish style.) and it's been doing most of what I needed to do quite nicely. However, the machines themselves are getting balky, peripherals hard to replace, etc., so I gotta get off the dime and move into the 21st century. I get the impression that Vista is compatible with DBA Classic (yes, I know what I'm running is more like Jurassic...), but what should I look for, or perhaps more importantly, look out for in upgrading? And, how do I go about transferring from stone tablets to current technology? Thanks! |

Title: Re: New computer, new OS, what now? Post by Vman on 09/26/07 at 05:58:33 One thing to be cautious about is that many people are reporting issues with Vista (incompatabilities and slowness). An old saying is that you don't upgrade to a new Microsoft OS until Service Pack 2 is out. Some computer sellers are still offering "downgrades" to XP for people who are not thrilled with the Vista experience on new systems they have purchased. Maybe some users who are currently running DBA or EVO on Vista can chime in. |
