Have done my last payroll for the year and just did a test run for W-2's. The IRS has changed them this year and the current patch does not print them correctly. The IRS has moved the Employee Social Security Number to the top of the page. When do we get a patch? My employees will begin whining for these next week.

Payroll patch with this change and the new 2008 tax tables is in process and should be posted next week. Tell them to quit whining - you have until the end of January to distribute W-2's... ;-)

BTW, there was (for once) actually some reasonable logic behind the change - the new layout makes the Social Security Number invisible from the window of the envelope, reducing the opportunity for identity theft.
