I'm getting "error trying to load btrieve 161" when I start DBA.
C/S XP

You've got too many users connected. That error means that you've exceeded your number of licenses. This may be that you really do have too many people connecting or you might just have some ghost users lingering from when Evo has crashed. Rebooting the server is the easiest way to clear ghost users.

Sometimes shutting down the server is a real issue...especially here with engineers using it and the shop floor clocking in and out.  We are on EVO.  Not sure if it works the same for DBA.  

Here's what we do:  Go to the server:

To reset Pervasive or remove a "stuck" user from EVO:

Start
Programs
Pervasive
Pervasive.sql
Other Utilities
Monitor
Microkernal
Active Users
Delete current or all.  (Or delete the users you think should not be on.)

Good advice! I thought about explaining how to actually delete ghost users but I figured it might just be easier to say "reboot the server". Your explanation is definately the correct thing to do though.
