Hello All:

How do you recover a lost admin password in 2004.1?

Thanks
Ricardian

Yeah, that is all well and good, but it is not the lack of our skill to encrypt the passwords, it is the fact that the Tp5wdba.exe (Classic's runtime executer) is what opens the user/password files and does the validation.. and Only Phil not even DBA has the source to that program..  Phil has since washed his hands of the Computer world and now sells life insurance... go figure.

Now if everybody converted to Evo, then yeah, I would have encrypted passwords long ago.

Sorry..

You're telling me that you can't do it? I mean, you can't bypass the check in TP5wdba and do it yourself?

That kinda sucks... And just when I had hope that TAS might actually have some value...

Lynn and I were talking the other day about offering the Encryption of passwords to Evo users, but it would go and delete TP5WDBA.exe  so no more Classic... that will probably happen soon.

This would be an option for Evo only users.  Classic would continue to run the way it does now.

Heck yeah! I'm sick of hearing "can't do it because the ancient tas5 runtime was a steaming pile of garbage written by monkeys and rabid weasels" Well, you never actually used *those* words but you should have. ;-)

I'd certainly welcome changes that would have broken classic compatibility.

Or... what sort of encryption does TAS7 support? Is it AES or something? If it's something that allows for printable characters then maybe could Classic people enter the actual encrypted password string and still use the system?

Just wondering in case it ever came to needing to run Classic for some reason...

I'd imagine so... depending on when you read them (there are a couple of deleted posts). And if you just read the stuff that's still here it's probably more confusing than anything...
