Title: Work Order Notes not accessible
Post by lnikitas on 08/27/08 at 11:56:13

We just updated with the March and August updates.  I have turned on EVO notes and redone all RTM's (which are fine).  But when we go into Work Order notes, it says EVO notes are on and we can't get in.  Is there another default I should have checked somewhere.  It seems that the Sales Order and PO Notes are working.

Have you run SM-N-C to synchronize the notes

Yes, I ran SM-N-C and when I go to WO-A to an existing work order to Notes, it says
"You currently have EVO notes turned on - You can view these notes but not edit them"
and I can not add any notes

Then you should be using T7WOA not BKWOA. If Evo notes are turned on you need to run the Evo Screens.

WOW! That's it.  Thank you very much.  I have been going crazy.  Seeing as I just put in all updates for 2008, I probably have a lot of other programs that I am running wrong.  Is there any quick way to fix them without going through all the Menu Changes with the Program Names that are listed on IS Tech Support?  Also that list gives me the new Program Names.  I won't necessarily know the old names to change.

For yourself you can delete your menu profile and remake it as a copy of "Admin". That will give you all of the most up-to-date menu items.

For others, if they have custom or default menus, you can globally change the program name (one at a time, but for all user menus) by using the "Change Prg Name" button in the upper left of the Menu Item Setup menu (TAS-G)

And here is a list of all current menu programs in case you need to check

Also, this topic is covered in the Evo Wiki FAQ

Thanks - I will look at that
But do you have any idea why we can't print travelers.  I have updated the WO-A to T7WOA.RWN and the notes work OK, but travelers get to the print RTM screen and when you enter the screen goes back to the initial screen.  The printing of travelers is at T6WOC.run as it should be.  I can print through ADMIN but no one else can.

The RTM names when Evo Notes is turned on start with EN.. so T6WOC1.RTM with evo notes turned on would be ENWOC1.RTM.. when it prompts you with the RTM name make sure it is using ENWOC...

It is using ENWOC1.rtm

Back to changing programs names.  TAS-G wants the old program name and the new one.  I have the list of the new ones but not the old.  EX: For the new EVO Settings at SM-K vs the Old Toolbar, the new program is T7SMK.RWN but what is the old program name so I can change all users.  I know I can go into each user in TAS-G and add the new SM-K but that will take forever.

Still can't get Travelers to print.  Any ideas

I gave up.  I took all reference to EVO off the 2 workstations in question and re-installed EVO from scratch.  They can now print everything OK.

But still can't find original names of programs to use TAS-G.

If the menu profiles have, for example, an IN-B and you want to update that program, look at a profile's IN-B entry and read what it is using for a program. If it is using BKINB.RUN or T6INB.RUN and you want it to be calling T7INB.RWN... well, there you have it. We had a mixture here, so when I wanted to move everyone to the T7 versions I had to run the routine twice, once for the BK and once for the T6 upgrades.

On the other hand, if the profile you are updating does not have IN-B and you want to add it, then you will have to use the TAS-G program to edit each such profile and add what is needed. If you need to change many profiles and some will be the same you can modify one to what you need and then delete the others and re-add them by copying the one that is complete.

I understand what you mean about the programs being a BK or a T6.  I think that is what confused me at the onset when I was looking at the programs.
I'll look at the program names again in TAS-G and make the appropriate updates.
Thanks for your help

This caused me a little confusion so I want to put this in the archives

After the 8-2008 update we (classic users) were not able to edit notes in WO-A.
The question was how does a classic user turn off EVO notes in WO-A?

Classic users do not have DEF- Defaults (Evo-ERP)
At first I thought I would find the default in SD-Q > Manufacturing... but it is not there
Classic users must go into SD-Q >System manager>enable evo note systems   N

Thanks,
Laura
