I get the following error message during the install of the 8/4/08 update, that I downloaded yesterday.

Fatal Error File:IsTech.lib line 342
You have tried to access a file that has not been previously opened, or the file number (FNUM) passed was 0.

This error occurs before the Update screen comes up.

Have you tried rebooting ther server to make absolutely certain everything is closed and then reinstall the update?

I will try that. I did check the Pervasive Monitor and it showed no active users/or files, but it is Windows....
