Title: T6, BK or T7???? Post by aostarly on 09/19/08 at 10:19:29 This is more of a question for the programmers and techs of EVO. Are all three of the programs, t6, bk and t7 all being maintained and at the same level? :-? We started out w/DBA a long, long, long time ago before there was EVO. Then EVO was added as an overlay to DBA. Well in doing so over the years, we have some users with menus calling bk screens, some with t6 screens and some t7. The bk and t6 don't look anything different from one another. So I know how that is easily mistaken. However there are things users are trying to do such as add a vendor part number to our parts but the information does not stick. You hit save and you think it is saved, but if you go back to the part the information you just entered is not there. This is also happening on customer cross reference and in trying to sort out issues, I realized everyone is not using the same screen. Hence my question. Yet if I add information in with a T7 being called the information sticks and is visible throughout all the screens. At least it has been for the past 3 days now. I have my profile with access to all three versions for troubleshooting purposes. |
Title: Re: T6, BK or T7???? Post by NovaZyg on 09/19/08 at 10:55:17 BK programs are compiled in TAS5 an older DOS based compiler. T6 are the exact same BK programs just compiled in then new TAS7 Windows compiler. T7 programs are windows programs and are object driven, not top down code like the old BK programs. T6 programs were created to take advantage of the newer things we had access to in TAS7 like newer version of RTM's and Email. But most of the system still remains BK (DOS top down procedural code). We are working on converting the whole system to TAS7, 90% of the screens are already done, and we will be porting the logic to them soon. The major programs like ARA,APA,WOA,INA,INB,POA,and SOA have all been converted to T7 versions.. But like you pointed out there are still the older versions of all these (BK,T6) If there is a BK, T6 and T7 version of a program. I would stop using the T6 version ASAP. We do not add or fix T6 versions of programs if there is a T7 version. I just can't maintain 3 version of the same code. Any new program features will be added to the T7 version only. The BK versions will be frozen and we will only to bug fixes to these programs.. That said 90% of the programs out there are still only BK or T6 versions so when we add new features we are adding them to the Classic system too as they are the same programs being run in Evo. So my suggestion is to have your users switch to the T7 version as they are the ones with the newest features and all the latest fixes |

SOA is not useable with an F and O order. The above quote is from 3 years ago. the whole check box thing for F and O in T7 SUCKS. puts the options in the wrong order wont let me check off multiple options like I can with T6 says I cant exit when I exit and save says I cant exit when I press exit locks up 3 years after its "done" and still wont work. Why is it even included in the updates in this condition. |
Title: Re: T6, BK or T7???? Post by cdecker on 08/22/13 at 12:35:13 We had to switch all users back to T6 for SO-A as well. Same problem you are having, features and options won't work with the T7. We are on the April update, so maybe with the lastest update is will be fixed, I hope. |
Title: Re: T6, BK or T7???? Post by Kelloggs on 08/22/13 at 14:25:34 We have the July Update installed and the SO-A works fine! :) Kelloggs |
Title: Re: T6, BK or T7???? Post by shadowcaster on 08/23/13 at 08:14:51 I have the July update. It's not fine here. You can enter an F and O order ? |
Title: Re: T6, BK or T7???? Post by Dennis Wilkinson on 10/15/13 at 05:46:27 FYI...If you are enter F & O SO's on the July update, you need Java installed, have created the ODBC database for the company you are using and set up the Jave settings in SM-T, then the T7SOA version will work with F & O |

I don't understand what calling up different screens mean? Is this why I have one EVO user defaulting to it6pob1.rtm and another defaulting to pit6pob1.rtm. I want everyone printing the same forms. Does my problem stem from people calling up different screens? Thanks, Laura |
Title: Re: T6, BK or T7???? Post by Dennis Wilkinson on 10/16/13 at 16:03:20 Laura, in the example you provide, what I was saying may not apply. The RTM's you mentioned that start with "i" are for international forms, so you must have the international printing feature turned on (Sys Mgr.-IM-A and a "Y" in box to print "International Forms"). I forget what the "P" in front of the "i" stands, but again, I think it is related to international form. What I was referring to earlier is when you set up a user profile in TAS-G and if you were to edit these profiles, you will see what program the menu is calling. If you log in as ADMIN, this will always be calling the latest version of any program where as other users profiles may still be calling older versions of the program. You can update all users with the most current programs by selecting the button at top of screen to do so, but sometimes this is too much of a shock for users. However, eventually, all users should be using the same version of any program unless for a specific reason you want to revert to an earlier version |

Title: Re: T6, BK or T7???? Post by Laura Oliver on 09/12/14 at 17:02:16 Dennis, I should have read your post closer. It auctually helped me with another problem, I still havent figured out why some users cant access all the forms. Here is how your post helped me in the other matter: I dont think we had the International module turned on before we had the EVO/new server update event in the summer of 2012. But some how during this event the International Module settings must have changed and I didn’t catch it. Before the EVO/NewSever event we could print our customized Purchase Orders in DBA. With the SD-C set to Graph Univ Form Cond [BKPOB1.RTM], but after the event we had to change the SD-C default to 5 Text and the “Text Universal Form “ is ugly and did not have the customization we want and need. I am now print graphical POs on DBA but the tax is no longer itemized by localities like it was before. But here is what is crazy: If IM-A International forms is set to Yes I can not print ANY graphical purchase order. I can not print IBKPOB1.rtm or BKPOB1.rtm If IM-A International Forms is set to NO i I can print both. It only matters in Purchase Orders. It does NOT matter in sales order. Sales Order graphical forms print with both the "I" prefix and without it regardless of the International forms setting Thanks Laura |
