Title: ODDNESS IN LOOKUP SCREEN
Post by EMI Ann on 09/26/08 at 10:03:08

When I use IN-A-F2 and start scrolling through with the page down button, after a bit I notice that items are out of order, and or appear in different spots more than once. If I exit the lookup, and go back in, it seems to straighten itself out, for a while, then it does it again. It doesn't do it every time, just every twice in a while. The data does not look incorrect, but it just is weird. Any ideas as to why this is doing this?

That correctly happens to us when we are in IN-A and searching by something other than item #.     Item #'s are unique, but searching by description, vendor #, etc can correctly show duplicate lines when there is more than one item containing that same information.

It sounds like the original poster isn't seeing that sort of behavior though. If you sort by a field which isn't unique you should still get the dups all in a row not spaced way out.

It happens when I search by item number. Because my item numbers are descriptive (to us, anyway), I really don't search by any other criteria in I-IN-A. Thanks for taking a look at this.

I suspect it may be a screen refresh issue.  If you are holding down the PgDn button, the program may be getting through part numbers faster than the screen can keep up.  I have seen the same thing in Excel in large files.

Rather than PgDn, try typing the first part of the part number you are tryng to get to and it will go there.

Thank-you. That seems to make sense, because the information wasn't incorrect, just out of order, and when I would exit and come back in, it would straighten out.
