Title: Logins Disabled
Post by dashdown on 10/26/09 at 05:46:26

This morning everyone is getting the message "Logins have been disabled by the system administrator.  Please try again later".  Everything was working fine Friday night and I haven't changed any settings that I am aware of.  What do I need to do to fix this?

OK, I found the "Enable Logins" button under Tools/Users but when I click it I get "Attempt to Unlock DBA Classic Failed.  Please Try again" ?????

Login as the administrator - Admin / (whatever your admin password is)
Go to Tools/Users and click on Enable Logins.

We get that error also.  Lynn had a fix for that a while back and will probably respond with the answer again, but for now you should have user access now - correct?

I Figured it out.  Somehow TP5WDBA.exe got changed to TP5WDBA.ZZZ.  Not sure how that happened.  Could the system have done this or do I have someone messing around where they shouldn't be?

Somebody logged in as ADMIN and clicked the Disable Login button.  Sounds like it is time to change the ADMIN pasword.

Lynn - I keep getting the "Attempt to Unlock DBA Classic Failed.  Please Try again" error - you gave me the fix before for this and I forgot it.  (it doesn't affect anything, since we all use EVO, but it would be nice to not have it come up.

I just wanted to add that this has happened to us twice, once at the end of March and it just happened today as well. The seclog doesn't show anyone logged in as ADMIN, actually I'm the only one that uses that account and I wasn't in today. The log shows a user going in at 1:52, and the next entry at 1:57 shows the lockout message:

Windows user tglass  on Computer No Value FoundAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA  logged into Account TGLASS          on 20110524 at 01:52:49 P.

Windows user dlh  on Computer No Value FoundAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA  Tried to log into Account DEBBIEH         on 20110524 at 01:57:36 P while Logins were Disabled.

Windows user gharm  on Computer No Value FoundAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA  Tried to log into Account ENG             on 20110524 at 02:12:16 P while Logins were Disabled.

Windows user mshaber  on Computer No Value FoundAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA  logged into Account ADMIN           on 20110524 at 02:13:11 P.

For the next update (in the next few days) I have added some code to the disable logins. 1) if the USERS screen is not loaded do not run this. 2) I added to the SECLOG.TXT file who ran it.

There should be no way other than ADMIN to be able to run this. But I have seen odd stuff happen in EVO where the stack gets poped  (too many pops error) and the program jumps back into the menu code and starts running stuff it should not. So this should help bullet proof the disable logins a bit more.
