Title: Other Users Logged On Post by sschoenauer on 02/09/10 at 10:47:47 I'm trying to get a new laptop (Win XP Pro) connected to EVO/DBA. I've successfully installed Pervasive Client v9.5. When I go to run evoerp.exe (I believe this is how to do it), I get the message that: users logged into the system. Get everyone out before running this update. We are not installing an update, but EVO thinks we are. Do I need to get everyone out or is there another way to get this laptop on? |
Title: Re: Other Users Logged On Post by Lynn_Pantic on 02/09/10 at 11:53:21 Look at the TASPRO7.INI file in the DBAMFG folder on the server with Notepad. The 3rd line in the [SETUP] section should read DfltRunPrg=evowkssetup.rwn Sounds like yours says DfltRunPrg=evoerpupd.rwn Edit the INI file and try again. |
Title: Re: Other Users Logged On Post by sschoenauer on 02/09/10 at 12:08:50 Thanks Lynn, But my file does say: DfltRunPrg=EvoWksSetup.rwn Any other thoughts? |
Title: Re: Other Users Logged On Post by sschoenauer on 02/09/10 at 13:16:44 Problem solved. Thanks to Lynn I ran the following: Start - Run - g:\dbamfg\evoerp.exe g:\dbamfg |
Title: Re: Other Users Logged On Post by Lynn_Pantic on 02/09/10 at 17:06:17 As explanation - if a computer has never run any version of Evo-ERP before, then browsing to the server and double clicking (or right click & Run as Administrator for Vista & Win 7) on EVOERP.EXE will use the TASPRO7.INI in the application (EVOERP or DBAMFG) folder which should call the workstation Setup (EvoWkssetup.rwn). But if it has had a demo version or even after a failed attempt or whatever, it can have registry settings pointing to a different location causing it to use the commands in the TASPRO7.INI of that other location. Entering the command prompt with the path added at the end passes the parameter to the program forcing it to load using the TASPRO7.INI in the specified folder (in Steve's case, G:\DBAMFG) |
Title: Re: Other Users Logged On Post by David Waldmann on 03/11/10 at 07:11:09 I've been having trouble getting a consistently working installation of Evo on my Win7-64 machine. After updating TASPRO7.INI on the server to DfltRunPrg=P:\DBAMFG\EvoWksSetup.rwn the setup seemed to go ok. However, when I try to run Evo I get: File Open Error 12 File not found: BKSYMSTR Program name: P:\DBAMFG\EVOERPMENU.RWN EXE Path: C:\ISTS\ The program will now end. Any further suggestions? |
Title: Re: Other Users Logged On Post by Lynn_Pantic on 03/11/10 at 09:02:16 Use REGEDIT and edit the workstation registry. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER - SOFTWARE - Addsum and delete the complete key. Right click the desktop icon and choose Run As Administrator. That should load Evo and because you chose Run As Administrator, the registry should also be updated so in the future simply double clicking the icon should work. |
Title: Re: Other Users Logged On Post by David Waldmann on 03/11/10 at 09:31:38 Deleted reg, restarted computer, ran as Admin. Now I get "Data Dictionary File cannot be opened: P:\DBAMFG\FILELOC.DBF" |
Title: Re: Other Users Logged On Post by David Waldmann on 03/12/10 at 06:39:36 MAY be making headway. I opened EvoERPsetup to examine it, and when I saved it I got a "the filename does not exist" message. So I remembered that earlier when I'd been trying things that I had trouble when I typed in the Initial Program Name, so I re-ran it, and used the Browse button to select EvoERPmenu.RWN, and I don't get the FILELOC.DBF error. However, after a few flashes of this or that I am back to: File Open Error 12 File not found: BKSYMSTR Program name: P:\DBAMFG\EVOERPMENU.RWN EXE Path: C:\ISTS\ The program will now end. |
Title: Re: Other Users Logged On Post by Lynn_Pantic on 03/12/10 at 07:35:41 The BKSYMSTR file for the company designated as the Startup company in TASPRO7.INI does not exist. Set the line to read: DfltCompanyCode= to start in the Default (B) company |
Title: Re: Other Users Logged On Post by David Waldmann on 03/12/10 at 08:51:37 Did that. I get to the logon screen now, and then the exact same error. After I close the error message I get a couple other ones: Field unallocated etc: BKSY.COMP.NAME ISDrill could not open, error 2 Then an Evo screen shows up, but there are no toolbars on it. The text menu is there, but the only things that work are Maintain Database and Report Editor. |
