Title: Custom BOM Report Help.
Post by AndyOB on 01/03/12 at 10:10:22

OK, we have a customer that we make a bunch of FGIs, we need to make a list of all the material we use for all of these items. Can Evo make a report where if I specify a customer code it'll go through all the FGI, and make a listing of all the items called out in those BOMs? Would it also be possible to sort all the items by either part or part manufacturer (treat the material as one big list, doesn't need to be seperated by FGI part#)?

Looking at using a MS Query for this at the moment, but maybe Evo has a report that'll save me some time.

If nothing, then does anyone know which dB tables I need to be looking at? Right now I am thinking BKBMMSTR & MTICMSTR would contain all I need?

Happy New Year everyone!

We've done something like this by creating a fake assembly and adding all of the finished good items to the BOM. We then ran BOM Availability against that one item.

You can also do that kind of thing by adding those items to the Forecast and running MRP with Y for include forecast items and N for including Sales Orders and ignoring Reorder Level.

MRP is the better bet if you are not currently using the Forecast feature (WO -> MR-A, MR-F, MR-H)

OK, so I'm trying an MRP generation, which I don't understand and it's taking hours. In the meantime I just want to take all our BOMs for one customer and spit out each item and BOM for that customer.

Using Excel, pulling fields from BKBMMSTR (BKBM.PARENT, and BKBM.COMPONENT) and MTICMSTR (MTIC.PROD.CUST, and .CODE)

Laying them out on a pivottable sorted by customer, but the entire bom is not appearing. It seems BKBMMSTR isn't the entire bom, maybe just the header?

Just want a quick list without needing to wait hours.

There are multiple levels in most BOMs and a pivot table won't get the job done. Programming is required for recursion. Multi-level BOMs (BM-D) do not show vendor info. MRP is the only built-in report that will, AFAIK. MRP is usually run over night for use in subsequent days.

Hey, I just filtered a pivot report by parent part (went through and clicked on each part# for the customer), seems to do the trick, running an MRP tonight though, hopefully tomorrow i'll have a similar report from evo.

thanks much,
-A.

The next update (due out within a few days) has a new BOM Tree Availability program that requires Java Runtime and displays a BOM in a tree view with availability at each level shown as RED (shortage) or GREEN (Available).  I can send an advance copy of this report if you are current (November 2011 update) - email me.

Feedback thus far has been positive - "What a time saver for us. It provides a  great deal of information, that we look at every day, quickly."
