Title: Nothing in SO module works Post by gtladmin on 01/25/13 at 11:04:26 New system, Evo loads and tested all other modules and no problems, but accessing anything from SO on this machine hangs up Evo completely. Have to end the process tree (there is a tp7runtime process). Using this account on any other system is fine, any account on this specific system cannot use SO module. So, what on a system would cause the SO module alone to not run???? Windows 7 pro 64bit. |
Title: Re: Nothing in SO module works Post by Lynn_Pantic on 01/26/13 at 09:54:08 There is nothing inherent in the programs of one module versus another that would make it work or not. The one thing that is fundamentally different is between the programs that have been converted to the new GUI versus the ones that have not. The old DBA-style programs call a new instance of the TP7RUNTIME.EXE while the new ones are just new threads within the already open EVOERP.EXE. I have seen some new computers with add-on security that prevent the EVOERP-EXE from calling the TP7RUNTIME.EXE. One specific case was an HP with a fingerprint scanner. If you are on the current version and log in as ADMIN, IN-A is a new GUI program and RO-C is an old DBA style program so those would be two to test. |
Title: Re: Nothing in SO module works Post by gtladmin on 01/28/13 at 09:32:44 I can try that. I can say there are definitely modules in Evo that work on this system, and in going back and testing, those are ones with the new GUI window and I don't see tp7runtime.exe being launched. Very interesting... This is a brand new HP computer, but a desktop so no thumbprint scanner. However, you give me an idea, maybe I need to remove the HP Protect Tools, or at least disable all of it to see if that is the issue. The thumbprint scanner on HP laptops is part of the Protect Tools. I'll let you know. I have already uninstalled nearly all apps put onto the system, this can't hurt to try this before I resort to just formatting the HDD and starting it all over. |
Title: Re: Nothing in SO module works Post by gtladmin on 01/29/13 at 07:40:42 Geez, all I can say is that was the issue--specifically of all the services I found related to the HP security, the authentication service was the culprit. :o If only you had thought of this back in mid-November when I first brought this problem up!! Now I have to put back on all the apps I took off and configure them. Oh joy.......at least the user will finally be able to use their system. Maybe someone should figure out what the issue is and get it fixed? I am sure none of us are too keen on turning off security to get an app to work properly. Thanks, now I am going out to buy a wig to cover the bald spots from all the hair I've pulled out trying to resolve this. ;) |
Title: Re: Nothing in SO module works Post by kevind on 01/30/13 at 13:43:19 Hey Val, How, specifically, did you identify these services? I can't run EVO reliabliy on any of our machines. However, If in setup a clean virtual XP machine in Virtualbox, it runs with no problems. |
Title: Re: Nothing in SO module works Post by gtladmin on 02/19/13 at 13:58:20 I went thru the Processes running and documented where those were, "Googled" them, checked in services and researched those too. Once I had a clear definition of what did what, I could make a decision what to turn off, then started turning them off one by one and seeing which one was the culprit. Turned out there were at least 3 that caused big problems, along with a few Intel processes that were not actually needed. I ended up just removing the HP Protect Tools altogether, and that got Evo working 100% all menu options. What a process. |
Title: Re: Nothing in SO module works Post by Lynn_Pantic on 03/13/13 at 19:26:25 For what it is worth, I had another user with a similar problem and removing the HP Protect Tools was the solution. |
Title: Re: Nothing in SO module works Post by Lynn_Pantic on 02/28/14 at 19:01:15 To add to this thread, had another instance today of the same symptoms. It was an HP machine but didn't have Protect Tools installed. The culprit was an Intel Security Client software. |
