Title: Reorder Report and Windows 7 64-bit Post by gtladmin on 03/15/13 at 09:03:29 As we roll out Windows 7 64-bit systems, we are finding Evo isn't as happy as it was when the users ran it in XP. Just put out a new system for our production manager, and he runs the reorder report (IN-D) 2x a day and it used to take 30 minutes, now 2 hours later it is still not done. Are there any specific things you have to "tweak" on a Win7 64-bit system that can make a difference here? Some things in Evo are just fine for him but this is one really bad issue we have to fix ASAP. Also, does IN-D automatically rebuild the stock status each time? This is where it appears to be hanging up for him. Any help or advice? Thanks much, Val |

I need to check and see if it runs differently on our Win7 64bit workstations as opposed to the XP pro workstations. I keep wanting my folks to stop using DBA so much and slowly switch but they tell me Evo is slower and clumsy. Maybe we are having the same problem. |

There is an option to rebuild or not, and when you don't it's almost instantaneous. But frankly I think you'll find the report practically useless unless you DO rebuild stock status: did you ever go into IN-A and see "Rebuilding stock status", and then notice that some of the numbers change? However, he might be able to trim down the time by using some filters, unless you really need everything checked at once. |
Title: Re: Reorder Report and Windows 7 64-bit Post by gtladmin on 03/21/13 at 09:15:53 I suggested filters, and he says he's using some, but I have not seen for myself. I can't think of why there would be any reason why some processes for Evo would be so much slower on a Windows 7 64-bit system? Cany anyone think of any particular setting, either on the computer or maybe in Pervasive, that would need to be tweaked, for example? The problems we have are all around things that use the tp7runtime.exe program. They just seem to really drag on a 64-bit Windows 7 system. Run the identical processes in Evo on an XP system and there are no problems. There has to be *something* that must be inherently different in how this program runs on the different OSes. I just can not think of what it could be. I have tried everything, including bumping up the tramsit and receive #s for the network card. It's just baffling and creating some very grumpy users. I have our production manager running two systems (one Win7, one XP) just so he can get things done in a timely manner with re-order reports. It's crazy! :o Kind regards, Val |

I do not believe 9 is officially supported for windows 7 x64. Check here: http://www.pervasivedb.com/PSQLv9/Documents/readme_v970.htm Make sure Anti-Virus is not running on your evo programs and folders. I have never had to do this on a workstation, but perhaps you need to disable DEP for evoerp.exe and tp7runtime.exe? I have had to do this on the server during update before. |
