Title: Credit Hold vs Available to Ship
Post by carolg on 03/29/13 at 15:03:47

When I have issues with a customer, I put them on credit hold so shipments will not go out without me being notified. The problem is that if that customer is in the process of ordering product ABC, it will not show up on the Available to Ship report.  So the product never gets into production for that customer.  So when I release the credit hold weeks later, they are now 2 weeks behind in getting their order.  Is there a way to make sure a shipment does not go out, but let the product go through production to be made?

Credit hold doesn't actually prevent production. "Available to ship" implies (to me) "nothing hindering shipment", and obviously Credit Hold would hinder shipment. I don't believe that is a report designed to drive production.

Have you considered using a different report, such as IN-D or MR-H?

Those won't help me. We print out the Shipping Schedule at the beginning of each week to excel and make some fine tuning: and pass to production so they know what finished goods need to be ready by what date and who to ship them to.  Customers "on hold" do not show up on that list.

We do not use the order action report. They only put in planned orders on some large parts, but not all. And purchase of raw parts is based on inventory usage, not necessarily tied to shipments.

Any other suggestions. I am going to speak to our consultant to have her make up some reports for us.
