Title: enter SO into T7 programs.
Post by shadowcaster on 07/14/13 at 08:56:21

Just updated to the latest version of DBA

set all my menus to the latest ones

tried to enter a quote with the T7 screens.

Is this supposed to work with F&O item types ?

Are there some T7 settings I need to make to get the T7 stuff to work without crashing ?

I read we are supposed to be using all the T7 stuff now because t6 isn't being updated.

I dont see how its possible to use T7 the way it is.

anyway

No Good

1st I get

Btrieve error
k:\default\ISFOHEAD.B - 5

then EVO crashes and mostly goes away

and I'm left with a screen of features and options that I cannot exit until all choices are made. except no mater what I do I cant exit it

its dated 5-28-13

is this supposed to work ?  do I have something set wrong ?  am I missing files ?

would be nice to know

We are using the T7 version of SO-A with mostly no problems. However, we don't use F&O and I know that the latest F&O is a Java version. I suspect you haven't set up the Java connection and that is causing your problem. We're not using Java because of security issues so I can't give you details, but I'm sure if you go to the IS Tech Support website and search for it you'll find the setup instructions.

If you can't, let me know, as we have them somewhere from the class in LV.

My other Java stuff seems to be working so I believe I have it configured correctly.

I do get some screens and my data is on them.

its just that they seem to enter an endless loop and crash EVO

OIC. Sorry - can't help you.

However I suspect that the F&O is probably buggy since it is pretty new. If it were me I'd probably go back to the T6 or BK version of SO-A for now...

Then again it seems like you should be able to use the original F&O with T7, since I'm sure not everyone has Java enabled (again, because of security issues).

Don't know if you have resolved your problem with T7SOA with F&O, but this program now uses Java to run the F&O portion.  There is a newer T7SOA.RWN available as well as T7SOPA.RWN (Sales Quotes) that mostly work.  ISTS is testing again as there appears to still be a problem with selecting multiple options.  Short term solution is to revert back to the T6 programs until gets fixed

My F and O items are fairly extensive.
I hate to enter orders convert them into 100 work orders and 50 po's and then they are all screwed up.

It's not like I'm building a red wagon or a desk.

So what will happen to people who wont use java because of security issues ?

Only option I know of at this time is to have the user profiles call out T6SOA.RUN instead of T7SOA.RWN...T6 version does not use Java

I did finally get thru the whole process. Took about 5 min after clicking tons of check boxes. I guess I thought it was locked up when I tried it before.

the whole process is tedious and takes too long.  there's too much info on the screen at once and it took 5 min to process the order when I was done clicking the tiny tiny check boxes.

Not to mention that all my items were in the wrong order making it even harder to pick the right items.

After that I reentered the order using the older version it was a breeze. Didn't take 5 min to process when I was done. Was easier on my brain and less error prone.

I think the new java F and O needs a rethink.

it may be OK for something simple like a wagon that comes in red or green but in my world with 60-70 choices to build the machine its not suitable. The old way isn't necessarily a bad way just because its old.
