Title: BM-N BOM Availability Tree View Post by Lynn_Pantic on 03/07/14 at 20:05:50 We are developing specs to redo this program to make it work faster behind the scenes. While we are at it, we are looking for feedback and suggestions as to how to make it better. Please comment on the following suggested changes and add any other wish list items: 1. Ability to have multiple parent items open on multiple tabs (can't see any reason why not...) 2. Ability to have image links already open. Start with the #1 image open and, if there are multiples, a slide show to scroll through them (something like http://www.istechforum.com/YaBB.pl?num=1231179608/26#26; unless it slows things down, can't see any reason why not) 3. Ability (assuming we do #1) to open a new tab for a branch of an open tree (again, unless it slows things down, can't see any reason why not) 4. Change the existing screen so the right side displays more item parameters and there is an additional tab available to view order detail. 2 specific questions here - How important is the order detail without having to click another tab, and what other item parameters (reorder level, reorder amount, unit of measure, ???) would be useful? This is where I really need feedback 5. Would a "Breadcrumb Bar" be helpful to go back to a higher level in the BOM? (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Breadcrumb_%28navigation%29) 6. Would custom fields be useful so you could define the item fields available 7. Anything else??? |
Title: Re: BM-N BOM Availability Tree View Post by shadowcaster on 03/08/14 at 08:47:38 Check boxes next to each item with the ability to make a list of the items with boxes checked would be helpful. Could write it to a file or a text list on the screen that could be copied to the clipboard. I use this screen to build lists of items to make (in anticipation of an order) or to build a list of items I want to change the reorder levels on. A way to right click on the part number and separately the description and copy it to the clip board. Would also be nice if you could pump an F & O quote or any quote into a bom availability screen for analysis. No matter how much info the program gives you it would be nice if the info was easily used to get to the next process after you have the info. |
Title: Re: BM-N BOM Availability Tree View Post by shadowcaster on 03/11/14 at 11:31:05 can you make the program work with type N items ? I have some I added a bom to a few and it wont let me edit them. |
Title: Re: BM-N BOM Availability Tree View Post by Lynn_Pantic on 03/11/14 at 11:46:32 Don't understand what you mean by "work". By definition, type N items do not have on-hand quantity so there is no way to calculate an availability. They are included on the tree view but not color coded as to availabillity. |
Title: Re: BM-N BOM Availability Tree View Post by shadowcaster on 03/11/14 at 14:25:26 I'm talking about using a type N as a top level item. I put all the machines I have sold into DBA by serial number. So I have numbers like SN14180 When I do work for the customer on that machine I use the serial number/part number to do the work on. if they send the machine back for rebuild I receive in back in under that number That way I can keep track of all the work I do on that machine. Sometimes I copy the F and O bom back into the that number so I can send them a parts list and its all linked to that same number. I set them all as type N but I cant use the BM-N or BM-O on those type N items. |
Title: Re: BM-N BOM Availability Tree View Post by Lynn_Pantic on 03/11/14 at 16:00:04 OK, I get it, you want type N added to the list of available top level items to select from. Easy enough to do. |
Title: Re: BM-N BOM Availability Tree View Post by lese on 03/13/14 at 09:18:27 Can it be run against the MRP output file so that future scheduled arrivals of materials on blanket orders with our vendors as well as future shipments against blanket sales orders from our customers are comprehended? That would make BOM availability much more useful for us. |
