So I have a WO that I've issued all the material required. Say I'm building 20 qty. Now if I complete 10 (half) of those items, use half of the material, Enter Finished Production for 10, and then decide I don't want to build the remaining 10, how can I easily return the uncompleted material to inventory?

Does Canceling or Closing the WO do that automatically, or do I need to issue negative inventory?

You can't cancel a work order that has had finished production processed against it. You have to do negative issues.

What if no production have been reported? If you cancel would the parts issued go back to stock?

Yes, if no production has been reported then canceling a work order returns all issued components to stock.

When we have this situation, we change the work order quantity to the quantity that was actually made, so the remaining quantity are no longer allocated. We find this step also helps with the un-issuing process.

Re-hashing this conversation, does anyone know how to find out who Canceled a WO?

I had a bunch of WOs canceled on 10/7. Later the WOs were run through EFP, and shipped.

We don't Backflush so now all that inventory it still in our system because the material was returned to stock.

Any idea how to find out who canceled the WO (history), and what's the easiest/best practice method of removing all that stock from inventory?

If you have crystal reports you can use the INVTXN file and sort using the MTIT_REF starts with "Work Order Cancelled" and MTIT_EXTRA will show you the Evo user.
