Title: ENTERING CONTRACT PRICES Post by EMI Ann on 06/23/15 at 11:38:01 The module SO-Q-H will not let me update contract prices. It opens with a p/n list rather than a customer list. You have to select a p/n at that point to get past the popup menu, but that does not do anything. When that clears, and you select a customer and p/n in the boxes on the left whether using lookups or just typing them in, it does not update those things shown on the right. It will not let you into the box to change the price, and kicks you out to base prices, etc., which is not what I need. If you try to create a new item, you still have to go through the p/n lookup, but when you click add and enter the customer and p/n, it does show up on the right side of the screen. You still can't enter any contract prices, though. I checked logged in as Admin, and got the same results. Any insights? Thanks for the help! Ann Luce |
Title: Re: ENTERING CONTRACT PRICES Post by David Waldmann on 06/23/15 at 18:13:21 To Edit a Contract Price (which, by definition is for a particular customer), I usually Sort By > Item Number. Once you do that, you will see the Customer(s) that have the CP and you can select and edit it. http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c275/dwaldmann/IS%20Tech/B1DB9CA6-97AF-423F-A63B-7DEAB1E51B34_zpsqdonhzcq.jpg Note that, even though they aren't "Contract Prices", Price Code prices also show up in this list, so you have to be sure to pick the one for the customer in question. As mentioned in the other thread, Enter CP works fine for us, although there are occasional, not-understood issues with them being pulled in. We have been using CP since our implementation of DBA in 2000. |
Title: Re: ENTERING CONTRACT PRICES Post by David Waldmann on 06/24/15 at 05:06:30 Oh, there's a T7 version. Sounds like that's what you're using. That seems to work fine here, if a bit slow and clunky. Make sure that the opening list Sort is set to Cust/Item. Then type the Customer ID to get to the part of the list that has prices for that customer. It pulls in all the info for that Customer and Item. Select, Edit and Save. Same for adding New Item. At opening list, click Add New. Enter Customer ID, Item Number, starting/ending dates, qty & price. Everything works fine here. Banner Date 4/10/15. However, I prefer and will keep using the BK version, because as far as I can tell there is no advantage to the T7 one and it's much slower. |
Title: Re: ENTERING CONTRACT PRICES Post by EMI Ann on 06/24/15 at 07:54:55 Hi, David, I went back in, and the cust/item sort was the default, and the one that took me to the part it selected, regardless of what I selected. I tried the item only sort, and, boom, I was in. Just the opposite of your recommendation. Story of my life; only left-handed mitts and golf clubs at my house, but I'm a righty... We've been using contract prices as long as I can remember (like 1997 or so, maybe?), but this was the first time I had to make changes since the most recent program update. Now, another question for you. You've mentioned BK vs T7 versions. I know in the report system, there are .rtms that begin with BK, and ones that begin with T6, and that in the DBA program folder, there are all sorts of .run items that begin with BK, T6, and T7. But, I don't understand selecting a version, and don't find anything in the help files (It may be there, but I haven't found it.) that would explain what the versions are, what the benefits or pitfalls of the various versions might be, or how one would opt for a particular one. I am running 2015.1, 2/9/15, T7-7iRS, Pervasive Version 11.3, on Windows 8.1 machines on a Windows network. I see the T7 there in About, but that's what the updated software is straight out of the box. (virtual box these days, no longer a pound of diskettes one at a time into the A drive, or even a mailed CD rom...) So, where do I learn about this? There are some things that I would opt for from the "old days," but don't know how. Thanks again! Ann |
Title: Re: ENTERING CONTRACT PRICES Post by David Waldmann on 06/24/15 at 08:59:21 Ann, there is unfortunately no short answer. The original DBA had all BK* modules and reports. After Lynn/ISTech took over, they started re-writing some of the modules in T6. These modules look like the BK ones, but are Windows native and give less trouble. They came with T6* reports. T7 is the latest version. These modules (can) have the same layout as the original ones, but are noticeably different; they have check boxes instead of Y/N fields, you can click wherever you want without fear of errors, and most screens can be viewed in a tabbed layout which is more "modern", but I personally prefer seeing as much as possible on one screen and so keep the old fashioned layout. So, some modules are still in the BK format, some are T6 and some are T7. To further complicate things, if you have Evo Notes turned on (they are one of the greatest improvements IST has made to Evo IMO), any T7 module that has a report where Notes may be included have EN* reports. Basically, you don't need to worry about the reports unless you're modifying them and need to know which one to modify. The proper report is selected automatically by the module you're using. I'm guessing that with every update you are updating all modules to the latest version. I personally prefer not to. True, I tend to be behind, and once in a while I find out that a problem or limitation we have is taken care of in an updated module, but I'd rather that than all of a sudden be presented with something that doesn't work for us. If you want to go back to an older version of a module, you almost always can. Here's what I would do if you're having trouble with one.
All the best, |
