There seems to be provision, but whenever I've tried it, the picture doesn't print.

This is for an Item that doesn't have any link on it, and we want some additional information with the WO.

Everything is set up and working fine on links added to Items.

I'm not sure I understand the question, but this is how I do it.
First, pictures don't print for me either, if I have a picture I print it to a PDF.
The PDF is attached to the Item in IN-B, using the Links at the bottom. Enter the file name (including the path and extension.) File associations I leave as "I" (for Internet Explorer Defaults) so it will use my PDF reader set up as my IE default. The printing flags at the bottom are set to L for link, and accordingly on the next question. I use B for both so it doesn't matter if it's a parent or component.

Make sure the file name (including extension) and path is correct, and it should print with the traveler.

We have no trouble with pictures printing when entered on the Item (IN-B). Both Thumbnails (we generally use GIFs) and Linked Docs (we generally use PDFs) work fine most of the time; dreaded Black Box occasionally on thumbnails.

The problem I'm having is then trying to add a Link to the Work Order (WO-A). Obviously this is not a real frequent need, as all standard stuff is on the item in IN-B. But once in a while there is some detail that needs to be added, or a clarification, to one order only, and it would be nice to tie it only to that WO, not the Item.

You need to have Evo Links turned on in IN-A to print files linked to anything other than inventory items. If you were using Item Links and turn on Evo Links, you need to convert the old links using SM-S-A and click the Convert Image Links icon to the right of the eyeglasses.

I see. I've never done that so I can't help. Adding more information to the notes such as a reference to the additional information or document would be easy enough, but you would still need to find a way to get the picture/drawing with the traveler if that was necessary.

Well I don't know what happened, but I went to play around with it some more and it seems to be working fine now.
