Title: Report Default Settings
Post by Lynn_Pantic on 02/10/03 at 14:35:57

I have had a request for user-defined default settings for all the questions on the entry screens for programs like SO-C, SO-F, BM-B etc.   I am looking for feedback regarding which programs this would be most desirable on (which to do first) and whether defaults at the individual user (stored in an INI type file on each user's C drive) level are preferred or system wide settings stored on the server.

Opinions, Please....

Absolutely a VERY valuable enhancement, particularly for larger sites.

As a consultant, I would definitely look at the primary SO and WO menu choices 1st, and special emphasis on the report generation screens.

As far as the format, I would suggest a combination of the 2 - in an .ini file so it is user specific, BUT stored and referenced from the server under the users profile there.  That way you could have their individual default settings available at whatever station they log in to.

If this goes through the price of membership just became inconsequential ;D

SO-C and SO-F would be by far the most valuable to us.

System-wide would be preferable here, though we could work with individual - we'd just modify one and then copy it to the other workstations. I guess that the most desirable way would be to set it up so that each company could choose which method worked best for them and use it that way. I guess that what Lorne suggested would accomplish that if every user got a customizable "Default User" setting to start off with, and could then individually modify it if required.

Great enhancement.

SO ones would be the best to start with from our point of view with any of the other ones following.  System wide is preferable to individual in our environment.
