Title: Linking Access and DBA using Crystal Post by kurt on 03/12/03 at 11:53:59 Does anyone have experience with linking DBA and Access number fields? I am linking BKARINVL using the SO# (BKARINVL_BKAR_INVL_INVNM) to a number field in an Access database (Office XP) and they don't want to work. I noticed that the DBA number field length is 6 which doesn't have an equivalent in Access. Any ideas on how to do this? I keep the status of the sales orders in the access database and bring them together when generating the report..... ??? |

Title: Re: Linking Access and DBA using Crystal Post by kurt on 03/12/03 at 15:27:47 Sorry for the lack of clarity. When I attempt to link the DBA table with the Access table I receive the following message " File link Warning. The specified fields may not link successfully due to different type." I have formatted the Access field with every possible version of Number format available and I always receive this message. When I do a Priint file layout for the BKARINVL field in question is says that is is a number that is 6 bytes long (I am assuming!) :-/ |
Title: Re: Linking Access and DBA using Crystal Post by aricon on 03/12/03 at 16:09:39 OK, so you are trying to directly link a DBA table to your Access table..... 1st thing is that in general this is not a good practice. Second thing is that it is not 6 bytes long it is 6 characters long. I can try to help you out with this a bit tomorrow, but I can only allot a reasonable amount of time until it moves into an area where I have to charge for it. It IS my business after all :-/ |
Title: Re: Linking Access and DBA using Crystal Post by Lynn_Pantic on 03/12/03 at 16:18:12 The BKAR_INVL_INVNM field in DBA is actually an Integer which is a different type of data element than a numeric field. |
