Title: Installing EVO
Post by Karen Mason on 04/15/03 at 14:52:56

Has anyone installed the "real" version of EVO?

Any problems to be aware of before I plunge in?

Server = NT4
Workstations = Win 98

I'm using the full version.

The greatest thing about it, IMHO, is that you can keep using the regular DBA (even concurrently on the same machine), so if you come up against something you don't like or have to figure out you can go back to regular DBA.

For instance, there is a problem with PR, (Lynn has said that there should be a quick fix for it) so I just went back to regular DBA to do PR.

Another thing is that the default startup company is configured system wide, not by user, regardless of the setting in PS-C.

You can't change your logon without exiting Evo and restarting.

There may well be others, but as I said, the great thing is that you're not actually upgrading DBA, it's just another way to use it, so you're not going down a one way street.

Actually, once you run the new Workstation setup, each workstation has its own INI file (C:\ISTS\TASPRO6.INI) that can be configured in TAS-C for startup company among other things.

OIC. But there's still no way to set it by user, right?

Lorne,
You asked if anyone had installed EVO in DBAMFG - No not yet.  I'm hesitating.

EVO changes no files in DBAMFG, your existing icons will continue to work unaffected.  GO FOR IT!!!  You can always continue to use the old DBA icons if there are any issues with EVO
