Title: multiple level BOM Post by jeanb on 01/15/04 at 09:17:21 I have BOM's set up as K part with components that are B parts. However, the components of the "b" parts are not coming out of inventory when the parent part does. We are not using work orders, and simply bill the K part on the invoice, but need to have inventory taken out for all the components of the B parts as well. Any ideas? |

Title: Re: multiple level BOM Post by jeanb on 01/15/04 at 11:16:40 The BOM for the K part already has the B parts listed. Are you saying that I have to list every part in each of the B parts on the BOM of the K part? We have several different packaging kits that I have set up as B parts (with BOM's) so that I can put the appropriate pkging with each model of equipment's BOM (which is a K part). What I want to do is to be able to simply put the B part into the K part's BOM without having to type all the parts in on each one. |
Title: Re: multiple level BOM Post by shadowcaster on 01/15/04 at 13:28:27 I dont think you can have B boms on a sales kit. you dont need to type them just copy them in goto BM-A and open the bom with the type B item get on that item and press enter press enter 1 more time press CTRL C to copy the item number press escape delete the item click on copy bom at the bottom of the screen press shift insert press enter a few times and all the items from that bom will be copied into the base bom very little typeing all you need is a list of the boms you need to correct and you can fix em up in no time. jw |
Title: Re: multiple level BOM Post by aricon on 01/15/04 at 14:31:33 The reason it isn't working is that it does not work... ;) How's that for a circular reference? ;D You cannot have a B type in a K type BoM and have it credit inventory appropriately. Just doesn't have the programming to do it. ISTS was looking at adding the ability to put a B type into a WO BoM, but haven't done that yet. Perhaps Lynn would like to also add this capability at the same time. I personally had a client who really wanted these capabilities and was frustrated by the fact that DBA did neither. |
