Business Changes have forced following changes in Item Master with almost 7000 items:
CLASS for few hundred items must be changed;
Categories for all items need to be added;
Preferred vendors for most purchased items need to be added.

Does earlier process of copying 3 files, transferring only changed fields to Inventory file and copying 3 files back work for such changes-especially CLASS changes.

Or is there an easier way for such routine problems.

Yes it does. But you will need to make sure that the classes exist and are correct first. Also make sure all vendors are in the system.
