If a user's group is formed, please let me know.  We are in the Littleton area ::)

We need a northern new england Evo users group (NEEVOUG? NEEUG? NEEDUG?) We can meet in the Manchester vicinity quarterly. We should be able to draw members from VT, NH, ME and northeastern MA. We'll meet at 11:30 on the third Tuesday of each quarter for lunch and the meeting will start promptly at 12:37. We'll open with a spotlight presentation on one aspect of DBA/Evo, said spotlight topic to be decided upon by member vote at a previous, official meeting. Spotlight presentation to be given by volunteer who either has expert knowledge or is willing to do the research. Second phase will be moderated Q&A for up to one hour. Third phase will be an presentation time where consultants, solution providers, or members may schedule thirty minutes to impress us with what's new or cool to do with Evo/DBA. The meetings will adjourn at 3:11 sharp. An optional networking/free chat time will be available until 4:00 pm.

1) Sign up by show of hands (respond to this post)

2) Can anyone suggest a restaurant in the area that will tolerate us from 11:30 - 4:00?

3) Can I be president? Huh? Can I? Just until the first meeting! Then we can vote. Pretty please?

4) The first meeting is next month (Oct 16th) Our first spotlight will be "Evo vs. DBA" (Dibs on Evo, who wants to represent Classic?)

5) No, there won't be any dues or membership paperwork. Bleh.

6) Yes, we can publish white papers.

Crazy? Maybe, but hey, I'm willing to try anything once.

This sounds good!
Myself and a couple of key users will attend.

Hey, great!  We will have 3 people who want to attend.  Colin you can be President if you want to IMO.   :)  I can try to see what we can find meeting-place-wise, just need a better idea of # of people.  This is good!

Since we have been on pure Evo, I can't advocate the Classic side.  A pure Classic user needs to step up.

I just sent an email to the 100 or so contact emails I have of people in New England directing them to this thread and suggesting they contact Val or Colin (Gas Giant) - Good luck!!!

We should keep the venue north of Boston so that we folks from the hinterlands don't have to venture into the morass of Mass. You folks on t'other side of the river Styx need an excuse to cross over once in awhile, anyway  ;)

So far I have had no luck nailing down a venue. The mic is open for suggestions.

Well, it seemed like a good idea at the time...   :-[

For reasons that I will not elaborate upon here, I will not be following through on the attempt to create a user group. I apologize to all involved, especially Lynn who sent out the email notice, Val who has been trying to help, and Rick S who was planning to stock the meeting with members. I should have checked with my "handlers" before making promises. Sorry for the false start. I hope that someone can put something together in the near future.
