Title: T6, T7, What is the difference?
Post by Brian Snyder on 03/21/08 at 11:10:51

We are one of the "old school" companies that still use DBA Classic over EvoERP.  We do use Evo for certain forms printing that we needed to alter but thats about it.  You have to do too much to get the same info as in Classic not to mention those microscopic icons.  That is the main reason nobody here likes it.  But I have read posts talking about T6 and T7 programs.  What is the difference and is it somethong you need to upgrade to to get it?

Just the version of TAS used for development of the program module. It's all Evo, same same for the user.

You really should do yourselves the favor of learning to work with Evo. There was some initial push-back here, but we found ways to make everyone happy and everyone is working faster and more efficiently now on Evo than they ever could on DBA. I have forty+ users to keep happy, so it took a little while to configure everything to the liking of each person.

So there is no choice on using either T6 or T7 programs, Evo uses both of them for different situations?

I've tried using Evo, but I seem to revert back to classic after a few days.  I just need to sit down some weekend and play with it a little.  The grids are confusing and they don't contain some of the info we need.  I think you can change what info is shown on a grid but again, I'll need to play with it for awhile.  They really need to do something about those icons though.  I can't se how they thought that was a better idea.

Yes, there is a choice. I have many user on the T6 versions of IN-A and only a few on the T7 version. And yes, the T7 icons are a very weak point. I have complained about it, so I'm sure that will do something about it eventually.

I have not done a lot with grids, yet. I have modified look up lists. If something is not available for the grid you want to work with, ask that it be included.

How do you choose which program to use?  I looked around and couldn't find anything.

To see what programs you are calling, it is in TAS-G. edit user, menu lines.  in the grid on the left part of the screen it  shows the menu position, name, and the name of the program.

BK programs are old Classic DBA (DOS) programs.
T6 programs are DOS programs compiled with the new compiler, but still use the DOS screens.
T7 Programs are True Windows GUI screens.

That answers all my questions.  Thanks to you both

This thread is a couple of years olds.  So I am wondering which folks use most T6 or T7?

Thanks

Depends which program. Some we use T7, some we prefer the T6. And of course, for still yet others, we prefer BK... Lastly, but maybe not leastly, some programs are only available in either BK or T7, so T6 is not an option.
