Title: On Hand Calculation
Post by PamB on 11/06/08 at 11:32:48

Hello,
I'm hoping that you can help me.  I can't find this information anywhere.

In Inventory, what is the calculation for On Hand (Inventory)?  Does it include Work-in-Process, On Sales Order, On Back Order etc.

I'm looking at this because I ran an inventory report, but it doesn't look like WIP is included in the calculation for that oh hand inventory.

Generally, I would just like to know how DBA calculates On Hand.

thanks,

WIP is not included. Parts in WIP have been issued out of stock and into the work order. Parts in non-inventory locations are not counted, either.

Sales Order and Back Order amounts do not affect on hand, but they do affect available... same with on Work Order, on Purchase Order and allocations.

Additionally, On Hand is not a Calculated field.

Around here, I tell people that On Hand represents the actual count of items in the Bin
if TODAY's received items have been stocked, and any manual Adjustments have been recorded.

We only remove items from the bin immediately after an Issue or after recording the
transaction on a manual adjustment log in the stock area.
