The BKGL_TRN_INVC field sometimes contains a number preceded by an "*".

I know this points to additional information. What Table does this 'pointer' point to?

Kevin,

* # like * 81 for example is a ref to MKECLASS MKECLASS has two fields. MKECLASS.NUM (this is the 81) and MKECLASS.DESC this is the Long Invoice number you typed in. So if you need to cross reference it , Trim out the * and search MKECLASS.NUM for the number (81) and return MKECLASS.DESC
