Title: .hlp files on Win 7 Post by deburr on 02/19/10 at 12:52:57 Having a problem displaying help file on windows 7. I went to the MS site and downloaded the add-on for the legacy hlp files but either can't install it or it just doesn't work. Anybody have a solution? |
Title: Re: .hlp files on Win 7 Post by Lynn_Pantic on 02/19/10 at 13:47:19 In Evo you can click Help - Web Help or manually go to http://www.evoerp.com/webhelp/evohelp.htm but that doesn't work with the F1 from within the programs. I just downloaded the Microsoft update for Windows 7 help files and it works if I am loading Evo on a local station and the HLP file is on the local drive, but not across the network as far as I can tell. |
Title: Re: .hlp files on Win 7 Post by Tim Goldstein on 07/12/10 at 16:05:18 Install winhelp32.exe from Microsoft. at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=166421 the enter the following registry entries.: Code:
(Copy the code to a .reg file and run from CMD as regedit {filename}.reg) This will allow help to work by pressing F1 on Windows 7 with EVO and DBA. the file can stay on the server. |
Title: Re: .hlp files on Win 7 Post by deburr on 09/21/10 at 08:30:21 Hi Tim I have tried what you suggested but I have a problem running the regedit on the XXXX.reg file I created. I have never done this before so I may be doing something wrong. I cut and pasted into notepad the code you offered. I saved the file as help.reg on c:\. I then go to RUN and type in regedit help.reg. I then get a couple of warnings and say ok to run. Then I get an error " cannot import help.reg:The specified file is not a registry script. You can only import binary registry files within the registry editor" Is there a way and proper location to do this manually? |
Title: Re: .hlp files on Win 7 Post by Kelloggs on 09/21/10 at 08:43:58 This key doesnt exist: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WinHelp" You have to create it first. :) Kelloggs |
