Title: Sales Report broken after 1/18/11 Update
Post by awaretech on 02/01/11 at 13:19:23

We have some Crystal Reports that use BKARCUST and BKARHINV. Since updating to Evo 1/18/11, the reports throw a Btrieve 22 Data Buffer Length error. There are probably some tables I should discontinue using and use new ones instead because of the new Contact Manager. Can someone tell me what those might be?

Is BKARCUST still an active file?

BKARCUST is still the active customer file but you need to run ODBCDDF at UT-A because the file structure changed.  Then you need to recompile (or whatever the equivalent for your version of Crystal) the reports to read the new structures.

Recompile, yes.  It's under Database - Verify Database in Crystal 8.5, if anyone else has this issue.

Thanks!

Lynn, what other tables are affected in this way that we should know about? We've a couple hundred Crystal reports out there and I want to be sure the staff know which reports they will need to recompile beforehand so they don't take my head off after the update.

It all depends what you are updating from to know which files are affected.  Most significant lately are a new index and new fields in BKARCUST and a change in the Department field size in WORKCTR.   When the update itself is processing, any file that you see counting records in and out has had a change since the version you are updating from.

We'll be updating from  January 2010 to January 2011 with the SP1.

val,
there's on option that if checked, "Verify on first refresh" located under File - Report Options. if that is checked before you save your report design, then when you do a dictionary update as a result of an update, then your report will automatically adjust it's files and fields used in the report to match with the new changes.
