Title: Crystal Reports v7 vr. Windows Server 2008 r2
Post by Charlie Klihr on 04/19/11 at 07:46:16

We use CR v7 because later versions did not allow the compilation to an executable file.

My concern is that CR v7 will not work on a Windows Server 2008.

Is anyone using CR with a Windows Server, and if so what version are you using?

We have numerous Crystal Reports including a custom BOM that has been integrated into our system.

If someone has experience with this problem, please contact me.

Why would you install CR on you Windows Server?
If your CR does not connect to your Database on win2008 it is because of its firewall.

You should install it on your workstation.
Now the question is if CR7 will run on Windows 7.

Thanks.  I only have XP PCs.
I have it installed on the Novell Server we currently use so that more than one person can use CR.  This is not necessary now so I guess it should still work ok?

now the other question is..... why do you need to compile reports into an exe?
answer: so the other users can run the reports.

if you install one of the inexpensive report viewer on users workstations, they they can run the RPT files themselves and therefore the Report does NOT need to be compiled.

by staying on Version 7 of crystal reports, you are missing out on alot of additional functionality that has progressed into the newer versions. besides the latest version if fully win7 compatible.
