Title: How to Install Evo on Windows 7
Post by Kelloggs on 11/02/11 at 10:04:22

•      It does not matter if it is 32 or 64 Bits
•      Login as the Computer Administrator if it is a stand alone computer or the domain administrator if it the computer is part of a Domain.
•      Install Pervasive Client: install the 32 version if you are planning to use MS Office 32 Bits.
•      Create the Evo folder: C:\ISTS
•      Add any file to the folder.
•      Make sure that you have map the folder where Evo is: "X:\DBAMFG\" per example.
•      Go to Start/Run and type: "X:\DBAMFG\EvoERP.exe X:\DBAMFG\"
•      Go to Control Panel/Administrative Tools and Open "Computer Management"
•      Add the Computer User to the Administrator Group
•      Log off as the Administrator
•      Log In as the User
•      Log off as the user
•      Log in as the Administrator and copy the Evo shortcut to the user Desktop.
•      Log in as the user, and open the link to test it.
•      Done.

Easy, Painless, as Evo

You still need to right-click and "Run as administrator" when installing the client, even though you are logged in with administrator credentials. Don'tcha love Windoze?

No, Dont do that!!!

If you install it that way, a regular user will have problem connecting to the pervasive server.

PD:
There is a huge diference installing a program under administrator credentials and with administrator credentails and "Run as administrator"
When "Run as administrator" you are asking the services and files to run as administrator.

Just dont!!!!

It won't run here unless it is installed that way. I guess YMMV. If one doesn't work for you, try the other.

Same here,we have to run the evoerp.exe program as an administrator. Then just make sure all users have full access to the ISTS folder and create shortcut for Evo for them....We don't have problems with users connecting via pervasive. All our users here are normal users, not local admins..... I also elect to use the full path to the server rather than a mapped network drive...as it keeps Evo users from poking around in there. DBA however has to have a mapped drive. :(

Another thing to add: If you use Windows 7 and map the DBAMFG folder as a network drive to access, then you need to run the following command so that windows 7 will not auto disconnect after idling.
net config server /autodisconnect:-1
