Title: Asking to add contacts in SO-A after 01-12 update
Post by David Waldmann on 04/11/12 at 04:58:13

We just did the January 25, 2012 update last night and now when we enter a SO, if we leave the default Contact in either the Bill To or Ship To it tells us that the contact does not exist and asks if we want to just use it, or add it.

I assume this has something to do with synchronizing CM-A and AR-A contacts with the new expanded contacts. Per Instruction #12, the first time you run AR-A a utility will run to convert contacts to the new file, but it didn't (we use BKARA). I am thinking that for that to happen we would have first needed to have converted to the new CM-A. However, we have not (and I'm not sure I want to) updated to the new GUI Contact Manager.

Is there some way to turn off this warning (I looked through likely areas in SD-Q but couldn't find anything)? We use T6SOA. Even if we do convert I'm not sure I want it to ask me if I want to add the contact every time we put a new one in...

TIA

After logging in as ADMIN and running AR-A, T6SOA no longer gives us the warning message.

Loading T7ARA once moved your contact names from the limited list of 5 available in BKARA (BKARCUST file) to the separate BKCMACCN file which can have as many entries as you want, eliminating the limitation of 5 contacts per customer and enabling multiple phone numbers and email addresses per person.  However, if you continue to use BKARA, new contacts wiull not be added to the BKCMACCN file and when you enter orders using them, the message will start popping up again.

Sorry - it now does NOT ask on the Bill To Attention, but DOES on the Ship To IF the Ship To is a different account than the Bill To, including if the Ship To is listed as the default for the Bill To. Hope that makes sense...

For example:
CUST1 has a default Ship To of CUST1-S, a SO entered for CUST1 pulls in the Ship To info for CUST1-S and I get the message. The only way I can avoid it is if I delete the Attn from SO-A. If I change the Ship To to CUST1 (or delete it, so it pulls in the Bill To info) I do not get the message.

This is for contacts that were in the original AR-A contact fields, and are in the Lookup for the Bill To Attn. In fact, even if I select one a Contact from  the Lookup I still get the message.

Again the question, which flavor of SO-A?  BKSOA, T6SOA or T7SOA?
