I know that in the Change Customers utility, that if you pick an existing Code as the New Code, it will merge the old with the new. Does the Change Item Number work similarly?

Yes it does, and it prompts which BOM and Routing to retain.

When does it prompt which ones to use for what? On the main SM-J-L screen I see options for which BOM and Routing to use, but I'm not able to edit them at any point, as far as the notice about "This could take hours, are you sure?" I would like to keep the ones opposite of what are chosen by default, so as you can imagine I'm hesitant to confirm without knowing that it will then ask which ones to use.

I'm wanting to merge some items and also change an item number...did anyone confirm when you get to choose the options? I'm at the same point where I can't edit the defaults and don't know what happens once you put the part numbers in. Can anyone advise of the actual step by step process?
