Title: Anyone have an RTM for labels that works ?
Post by shadowcaster on 10/17/13 at 07:30:28

I have a zebra 3842 with 2 x 4 labels.

I spent a day with it.  I cannot get a label to align or just print 1 without spitting out 3-4 extra.
I'm trying to enter a part number and get IN-G to give me 1 label.
It shouldn't be this hard.

If you have an RTM that is even close Id like to try it.

I don't use this for the labels that I have to print. I use a program called "Bar Tender." It lets me create the labels that I need, save them, add bar codes as needed, use labels in a bunch of sizes, and save each one to be able to modify and print on the fly. For customers that require that I print bar coded labels for the inner and outer packaging, it has saved my bacon. I also have used Word Perfect, selected the label type, made and saved labels, and added bar codes (they're just a font, make sure you use the right kind). Both let you select where on the label stock sheets that you want to start the print. I don't know how either would work on a dedicated label printer machine, but both work swell on your basic laser printers.
Hope this helps,
Ann

Does anyone have information on how to get labels to work in EVO.  I would like to use T6WSO1.rtm to print a 4x6 label in the portrait orientation.  Unfortunately, I seem to have the same issues that Shadowcaster was experiencing.  Am I better off to generate the labels external of DBA/EVO?

We print labels from Evo for Sales Orders, Work Orders and Inventory Items.  It took some fussing to get the shape/size/alignment correct but it works for us.  Are you using a roll feed printer or sheets?  I found that the key is to make sure the paper size is correct and that nothing extends beyond the boundaries of the "Paper" on the screen.

Thanks for the input.  I have been fussing with it off and on for days and cannot get it to work.  We are using 4x6 labels off a roll with our Zebra S4M.  This should not be that difficult.  I guess I need someone to look at the RTM to see if they can see what is wrong.  Any takers?

What program calls that RTM?

Sorry.  Dyslexia kicking in there.   T6WOS1.RTM is called by WO-S (Print WOrk Order Labels) in Evo only, not Classic.

BTW - The original RTM (or RTX) was designed for Letter (8-1/2 x 11).

That wasn't on my menu.  After adding the program, it appears to print ok for me. I did edit the "form" to set the paper size to 4" x 6" and dropped the margin size, which effectively decreases the printable area.  I can send a copy of my modified .RTM.  There may still be some fussing with your printer setup to shift the print area to align properly with your label.

Thanks for checking.  So when you do a print preview, the copy doesn't "walk" down the page for you?  What do you have the margins set to?

If I knew how to post a picture, I would include a screen shot of my print preview.  As for margins, I have the left set to zero and the top as small as I can make it.  I think it's .05".  You can play with the paper size (adding a quarter/half inch and adjusting margins to center the content.

I received an answer from Lynn today.  Right-click in the "^ Detail" section at the bottom of the form and change from "Dynamic height" to "Static height".  This seems to have fixed my problem.  My thanks to all who offered help with this issue.  This is one of the reasons I love DBA/Evo/IS Tech Support!
