Title: Update issue in SO-I
Post by cmsk on 04/17/17 at 06:21:17

First problem with the new update.

SO-I brings up a blank screen... nothing in the fields and apparently the F2 lookup isn't working either.

Tried searching for a customer and got an error message.

You need to set up the JDBC  settings at SM-T.  See http://www.istechsupport.com/jdbcsetup.pdf

I followed that, and when I click Test, nothing happens. No error message, no list of items, nothing. I tried it both with the database name I created with C:\ISTS as the location for reports, and then I tried "Detect Settings" as well (which picked a different database and a Reports folder in DBAMFG). Same thing.

I my case, the issue was the location MUST be pointed to the DEFAULT folder under the server drive where EVOERP is installed.

Changed to Default and still nothing.

Did you setup SM-T in EVO from  you workstation or the Server? Is the Host correct and is the Name of the Table exactly as how you created it In Pervasive?

From the workstation.

Yes & Yes.

what did you use for the hostname? if you used the ip address try the Hostname instead.

Post by David Waldmann on 04/19/17 at 10:44:35

I used SERVERNAME. Does it need the \\?

Title: Re: Update issue in SO-I
Post by prophet on 04/19/17 at 12:39:39

normally I would say it doesn't but everyones network is different. So its worth a try. If that doesn't work then try the IP address for the server.

Tried \\SERVERNAME and IP address.

No dice. No error, no list.

Maybe I misunderstood this.

The directions say to point the Database Location "the Company folder" so I set it to the active Company that we use.

When I said

I was talking about Destination in SM-T.

So in the database creation per http://www.istechsupport.com/jdbcsetup.pdf Step 1, am I supposed to use the DEFAULT folder?

If so, how do I delete the first database I made? I tried and it said that the Data Dict is in use.

The database location when creating the database in the Pervasive Control Center needs to be your active company subfolder.  Do not change anything else on the screen and click Finish.  The Destination Folder on the SM-T screen should be a folder such as DBAMFG\REPORTS where exported files will be saved.

Yes, that is what I did,

I initially had C:\ISTS\

But nothing happens.

Is there a previous step that I missed?

So just to cover our bases. You created a database using the Pervasive Control Center and pointed that database to the correct company subfolder that you are running?
In SM-T You entered the correct Host name and Database name? The Destination is a current folder that exists?
When you save it and click the Test Setting button nothing happens?
Does the window come up and its simply blank or nothing comes up?

Yes to all above.

Click Save, and then Test. Nothing happens. Nothing at all - no error, no table.

Have you tried testing from another workstation or at the Server itself?

Title: Re: Update issue in SO-I

Just tried it on the server and Test pulled up out items.

So I tried SO-I and it worked both on the server as well as the WS that I had been using before. Not sure why the Test doesn't work but the actual program does, but anyways - thanks.

BTW, very handy tool, but it's lost some function from the old BK one.

What I used that mostly for was to find if/when we had shipped a particular item to a customer. I don't see any way to do that in the new one. You can search by PO #, SO, Inv, and a few others, but not Item #.

Basically it seems to be a more streamlined and efficient version of what you can already get from AR-A, with a little extra filtering. Don't get me wrong, it's a great addition, but at the same time it really bugs me when there's an "advance" and yet some things are given up.

Have you ever tried the SA-F-D, that is another one of those java programs, it might give you what your looking for.

I didn't realize those reports were even there, as they were not on my working menu. Some very interesting things, but none that give me what I was looking for.

In the old SO-I you could enter a Customer and Item and search Shipped Lines.

I've changed my opinion.

While I do still want to be able to find items shipped to a particular customer, that's a relatively rare use and I could pretty easily create a report in Crystal to do that.

The way this program works is awesome for checking order status. The power/ease of use compared to the old SO-! is not even in the same ballpark.

One issue:
Order and Invoice details are sorted by Item Number. If you use Kit type items this makes it all but unreadable unless you only have one or two items on the order. We often have 5-20 items, each of which typically has 3-4 components, many of which components are the same.
It would be good if it showed up in the same order as on the SO.
Another option would be to make it sortable by column by clicking the header, in which case Line Number would be a great additional column. In fact, for us sorting by LN would be ideal as it would put all the top level lines together at the top.

Thanks

One other advantage of this as a java program, is that it's an actual Windows recognized window. So you can keep it open and alt-tab to it  ;D
