Title: out proc -- where does cost come from?
Post by Laura Oliver on 05/27/21 at 08:27:17

Do I have to use both a type T part number and a type S purchase Order for "out processing" to come out correctly on job cost?
Or can I just use one or the other?
Thanks
Laura

From the Help file
Type P is for a Purchase Order, which is for tangible items, and type S is for a Service Order,
which is for service type purchase such as plating, painting, etc. Type S service order line
items are tied to routing and will require a valid Work Order number and outside processing
sequence number to be entered. If you are using type T- Outside Processing or type M -
Make From item numbers, services are purchased from within type P purchase orders.

If you have an outside processing operation on a routing there is no need for the "T" part type.  You can use the actual end item being made as the item on a Service PO.
