account doesn't exist???
06/10/03 at 06:56:18

Hi,
I just upgraded to 2002.4 and now when we try to post a PO with freight we get an error saying the account doesn't exist. The account that it's saying doesn't exist is 5300-200 which we do not have, the correct account is 5300-300 which is setup correctly in GL defaults. It seems like the program is trying to use dept 200 rather than 300. Is there a fix to this or I'm I missing something?
Thanks Jim

Did you enter department 200 on the PO and maybe it is trying to override it?

No but I noticed that the 200 is coming up as default for the GL DEPT. Even when I delete it and save the PO then reopen the PO it's still 200. I'm baffled?

If your accounts payable GL Account default uses department 200, I think it is getting it from there.  DBA Documentation recommends using departments for Income and Expense accounts only, not balance sheet accounts.

...yes AP is dept 200 however it should not come up on the PO dept by default.

What version did you update from?  I don't think this is anything new.  I just tested in version 99.2 and it did the same thing in that version.

...version 2002.4 with the latest patch. What if I change the default for allowing GL Dept. to "N" ?

I just tried that, it looks like it may work.  I didn't take the PO all the way through invoicing but it is worth a try.  The GL Dept on the PO stayed blank at least.

...can I go directly into the database to set the default? It wouldn't be possible for me at the moment to logout all the users. I know which table to look in but not sure which field is the setting for the po?
thanks
