Is there a way, without having to pull out the calculator and add up each one, to get a report on closed work orders, say... each week, month, etc.??  Something that would give total labor hrs., labor costs, materials, individual profit, total profit, etc for a given date range??
 
We had a program written in Crystal to do this, but for some reason it is not catching all the closed wo's, consistantly, each week.  The person who wrote it is no longer "available"...
 
We average 150 or so work orders a week and trying to do this manually would be an all but impossible task.  How are others doing it, or are they??
 
With that in mind, how do others track their productivity, compare against a "standard" or "expectation", etc., using DBA??

Have you looked at the IN-N-C Print Colsed Work Order Costing report?  Sounds like it is exactly what you need unless I am missing something.

You are not "missing" anything, in the basic sense of the word, but the report you mention is incomplete and unwelding, at least for us.
 
Actually, I'll call it a case of "DBA-itis"... How can we make it as difficult and time consuming as possible to give the operator the information they really need to run their business...Smiley  All the information is there, within DBA someplace, it is just a matter of pulling some from here and some from there and then sitting down to put it all together in a legible format.
 
Maybe I am asking for too much, I do not know, but I'll try and explain what and why....
 
A list of all the closed work orders, sorted (as an example) from least profitable, to most profitable, based on the actual dollars, not expected / standard dollars.  Show the expected / standard costs and actual costs for each item.... material, setup, labor, outproc,etc., etc. and the expected / standard profit vers actual profit.
 
Summarize the week (or time period) on one sheet (front or back) and give the total $ closed (sale price), total $ of materials with the percentage of materials COGS, total labor hours, total labor $ with percentage of COGS, total profit $ with total profit % on the closed work orders...
 
This way, one, I get to see what the week actually did.  I get to compare my labor hours paid in production to the labor hours used in production.  I get to see what my overall profit was for the week and if I am going to stay in business at this rate and then have the chance to look at each idividual work order and starting at the worst, look to see what we need to do to improve our production of that part.  Maybe there was scrap, maybe someone in kitting over issued, maybe under issued (too much profit), etc., etc.  The way it is now, I can not spend the time calculating and looking.

Again, we have written a report like this in Crystal, but it is not picking up all the WO's and we have not been able to figure out what is different about the one's it does catch and the one's missed (4 or 5 a week missed).

DBA simply is NOT set-up to provide that level of reporting functionality.
 
Aria is a re-seller for a system that does provide that kind of information right on-line (don't even need to go to a report for most of it). If you are truly looking for that kind of capability you should seriously think about looking at such a system. The one I mean in this case is Vista from Epicor software(www.epicor.com ).
 

 
Another option woud be to use MS Access to get the information you want and to produce your reporting from DBA. If you wanted, we could help you with this. Access just gives much more flexibility as it is a databse itself and we can produce some REALLY nice reporting applications that work with DBA.

John,
That is 100% what I am also looking for.  All the info is there, we just can't get it out in concise format.  Many of the DBA reports take up too much space and don't necessarily have the info the way I need to it.  
 
Right now, I make sure the selling price is in the Work Order (creates a problem when the price changes within the WO).  Then I print out the JC-A in summary form.  This gives me costs and profits.  However, it is one page per WO.  Something columnar would be great.
 
I have the same problem with labor efficiency reports.

I am curious about where this discussion ended up.  Did anyone end up creating reports in Access or?  We have similar reporting needs and are looking for solutions.
