MRP
02/05/04 at 12:02:35

We are not currently using the MRP portion of DBA, but we are now at the point where we need to be utilizing it. Where can I find all the details needed to begin use of the program?  ??? What steps need to be taken to accurately begin setup? Any and all help would be appreciated.  Grin

heres what I did

run MR-F to generate the requirements

run report MR-H order action with only the M and B filters selected.

If you get 1000" of items like I did the 1st time you need to review each item and see why its generating a requirement.

I had to fix lots of stocking levels mostly  since the old system had lots of bad values that we imported into the new system.

once you clear the clutter of bad information you can start working on lead times and dates to get more info from the system and have it help with scheduling.

Its easy to use  but for me was messy when I started it up. After 2-3 days of messing with items I had it cleaned up enough that it was giveing us good info.

Now I run it after we enter orders and I get the stock w/o out of the way and let the w/o process create the rest of the orders specific to that job.

Thank you for your help a few weeks ago. I have been so busy I haven't had time to respond back. I took your advice, but I had the opposite problem that you had when you first started. There was little to no information in the MR-F, so now we are running crystal reports to see what has transpired in the last year, so we can get an average reorder level, etc... I feel the fun has just begun undecided. I'll keep you informed.

Great News

If you run MR-f and dont get a long list of stuff then you dont need to make anymore more stuff.  Grin

Once you get the min levels calculated you will never run out of the stuff you need to stock.

I got all my items into a spread sheet and had it calculate the stock levels based upon how many we make in a year  number of turns I wanted and lead time.

I can e-mail you the spreadsheet if you want it

After I got all the numbers I needed I used wintask and a spare computer to do all the data entry for me so it was painless to update all 10000 items.
