Are there any instructions for using the Image Link in Items?  I would like to link pdf drawings to assemblies and have them print out with the traveler.  Help.

This Is from the Help File in DBA          F1 !!!!

It looks harder than it is.

I put all the files in one directory off my dba directory in a file called prints.

Then just try entering a link and the program will run thru what it needs to do.

Inventory Links

OVERVIEW

Each inventory item can have any number of linked files associated with it.  These can be image files, text documents, or any other type of file.  Each linked file can have an application associated with it and can be tied to the routing sequence.

ENTERING LINKS

The path and file name of the links is entered in IN-B  Enter Inventory.  As links are entered, they will be available in the order specified so the primary link can be designated and will be displayed at the top of the list.  If the path to the linked file contains spaces, the link must be placed in quotation marks.
If many linked files are stored in the same folder, a global link path can be specified and then only the file name entered for each item in IN-B.  The application to be used to open each linked file may also be specified.  If it is not specified, Internet Explorer will be used.

For each application that may be specified to open a linked file, it is given a name (sich as WORD or ACROBAT) which is then tied to the application executable.  For a program such as Word that maay be installed to a different path on different user workstations, each user should add the path to that executable to the environment path for the operating system and then the program need only link to the executable file such as WINWORD.EXE.  If a full path to the executable program is specified, long folder names must be abbreviated to the DOS 8 character format, such as PROGRA~1 instead of Program Files.

USING LINKS

The links are available by clicking the camera icon on the toolbar in IN-A  Inventory Inquiry, IN-B  Enter Inventory, BM-A  Enter Bills of Material, RO-A  Enter Routings, PO-A  Enter Purchase Orders and SO-A  Enter Sales Orders and additional programs will be added as time goes on based on user requests.  Since the linked file can be anything, the potential capability of this feature is endless.  You can look at a drawing, photograph, inspection instruction, even an MPG demonstration of the use or installation of the item.

Thanks Smiley
I have been playing with this a little with some success.  I hope to really utilize this feature but it's going to take some time to get all of our engineering drawings linked.  Like WTSconnects, we have mostly customer drawings and I will have to do it one at a time.  Revision changes are a way of life around here so once I go this route I have to make sure we can maintain it and control it (I'm also the ISO queen).  So much to do, so little time.

Thanks for your help.  F1!
