MRP Beginning Balance
04/02/04 at 12:45:16

I just ran an MRP today and I noticed that the quantities in the 'On Hand' and the 'MRP Beginning Balance' arent the same.  Also the value in the beginning balance has 3 asterisks behind it.

In the past the values have always been the same and I have never seen the asterisks behind the MRP value.  This variance seems to be affecting the upcoming transactions.

Is there a new default or switch that I need to change or were there some changes made in a recent update that could be causing this problem?

Generating MRP takes a snapshot.  The asterisks indicate that there have been transactions to that part number between the time you ran MR-F and the time you printed your reports. I would re-run MR-F. Despite the warnings mine runs pretty quick.

Cyndee, thanks for the info.  I'll rerun MR-F and see if that takes care of my problem.

I just re-ran MR-F and I am still seeing this issue.

Lynn, is it possible that this may be related to the locations issue that you fixed in the last update?

I thought the asterisks appear when the beginning balance has been rounded to a whole number.  Are you talking about decimal differences or whole number differences?

There is a flag in SD-D to set whether you want MRP beginning balance to round to next whole number or not.

It is possible it is a location issue.  Bring up IN-A for one of the items showing  a discrepancy and check the On Hand on the first screen, then click Locations and check that on hand

That appears to be the problem.  IN-A displays the correct figure.  The locations screen shows one entry with the correct figure and another with a negative figure.  The result equals the MRP Beginning balance.

If you should have only 1 Location, UT-K-E will take the quantity from the IN-A screen and rebuild the single Location file with that value.  Sounds like that is what you need to do.  And make sure you install the 3/26 update, the underlying problem is fixed.
