CR Report errors
06/01/04 at 16:46:56

I am attempting my first Crystal Reports report with no luck.  I can link the data, design the report and even preview it HOWEVER, when I attempt to print I receive the following errors:
First Error

Second Error

Third Error

Fourth Error

Obviously, I'm doing something wrong or forgetting to do something.  Any help would be appreciated.

Are you in Client Server or in Peer to Peer for DBA/Pervasive?

From the Pervasive Documentation:

3012: Local engine is not accessible to the MicroKernel router
Access to the local engine is not possible because it is not loaded or could not be launched. You can receive this status code if you try to access a local file on a client and you do not have a MicroKernel workstation engine installed or if you try to access a local file on a server and the MicroKernel server engine is not running.
If you have only a server engine installed and your Pervasive Event Log (PVSW.LOG) contains Status Code 3012 warning entries, perform the following steps:
To Turn Off Local Engine support (for clients and workstations only):
1.      Click Start | Programs | Pervasive | Pervasive Control Center.
2.      Expand Pervasive.SQL 2000i Engines and expand the desired database.
3.      Expand Configuration, then expand Client, and click on Access.
4.      In the right hand frame, double-click on Local, change the Current value to Off, and click OK.
5.      In the right-hand frame, double-click on Requester, change the Current value to Off, and click OK.
6.      In the right-hand frame, double-click Target Engine, change Current to Server only, and click OK.
7.      In the left-hand frame, expand Client-16 bit and click on Access.
8.      In the right-hand frame, double-click Use Local MicroKernel Engine, change Current value to Off, and click OK.
9.      Make sure the Use Remote MicroKernel Engine value is set to on and that the remote engine is set to accept remote requests.
10.      Exit the configuration utility and restart the engines for the new settings to take effect.

Crystal is trying to access the peer server without the MK engine being available.

Lorne,
Thanks for the info.  Can you please clarify a few things.
1. Do you perform this list from the Server or from the Workstation or both?
2. I did not have the "DBA" data base listed in #2, so I added the dbamfg folder.  Was that a good or bad thing?  And on the workstation I do not show any databases for "engine" or "client".
3. #5 references "requester" do they mean "user"?
Thanks again for your assistance.

Lenette,
I would run crystal from the server first. If that doesn't work post errors.

PS- I haven't ran peer to peer in years... but that's what I remember. Also I don't have item #2 either.  Shocked

I installed CR on the server and WAAALLAAAA it worked.  Now I just need to get it to work from a workstation.  (I am not a fan of having employees working off the server.)  Any suggestions??

In a peer-to-peer you need to install it on the other workstations as well. Just point the report once it is created at the data source on the peer server station.

Sorry I wasn't able to respond sooner in the thread....Smiley

THANKS FOR THE INFO.  That worked.  Once it was created on the server, I could open it from a workstation and PRINT the report.

I tried to add a field (from the workstation) but received error messages.  So I quess that could be considered as a safety net.  Management (authorized people to work on the Server) can create and other are allowed only to PRINT their needed report.

On a side note, I created my reports in CR v10.  They are pretty basic reports (linking only 2 tables) but it worked just fine.  I requested v8.5 (based on info from this site) and was told if I bought v10 they would throw in v8.5 at no extra charge.
