SA-M is always going to use the current item class so if you are changing classes on the fly and then changing them back, it will affect the invoice posting GL accounts but not future SA-M reports. There is nothing is the sales order itself that stores the item class of the product at the time of posting. You could look at the Inventory transactions, they store the class at the time of posting and they hold both the cost and the selling price. In your case where the GL posted to the wrong account, you should make a journal entry to move the sales, not use Maintain Database.
