Error message when exiting DBA
08/24/04 at 16:24:23

When exiting DBA on one computer the following error message appears: unable to write TPSWIN.INI. The only way to exit is to go to task manager and end task. This only happens on the server. After ending the task, the user still appears in the pervasive monitor. After deleting that user, we are still unable to enter dba on that computer ( error re: only one  open at a time). The computer has to be rebooted in order to open dba again. Any suggestions?

The TP5WIN.INI file resides in the local WINDOWS folder and it looks like your user does not have write access to the files in that folder. grant write access to the Windows folder or move that file to another folder in the environment path that the user does have write access to.

Thought I would just complete this post since I just asked Lynn the question and verified the answer via actually trying it.

On win XP pro sp2
What I have gotten to work.
1. user is a local restricted user with a network password to the server on which DBA runs on a network (versus a workgroup)
2. I moved the .ini file to C:\pvsw and deleted it from the windows directory (very important).

Backgrond.
1. I installed DBA as a local admin on the XP system and everything worked fine as long as I was logged in to the local machine as a local admin with network password enabled (see manage my network passwords) under the local admin user account.
2. Got an error when exiting dba DBA when I created a local restricted user account with network password to the DBA server enabled. Note this is not a Network user account with local privlidges.

There is an alternative to moving the file.
You can open the file properties,
select the security tab,
select the group users,
click on modify, giving users the ability to write
