Sales Orders

Looking for a way to track Sales Order partials by looking at the Sales Order History.
 
Example:  Original order = 500 pcs
Shipped 100 pcs leaving a backorder of 400pcs.
Against the 400 pcs 350 pcs shipped leaving a backorder of 50 pcs.
 
How can the progress of this order be seen?
Is it kept in a database that can be exported?

Each shipment would be a separate invoice - BKARHINV and BKARHIVL are the tables for the header and line items.
