CM for vendors
10/19/04 at 10:12:29

In the contact manager, the list for vendors doesn't work when sorting by class because the field allowance is only 2 characters but the field in enter vendors is 4 characters.  We are trying to use this field to give us a list of suppliers versus service and other categories of vendors.  We can do this through the accounting module AP but I was thinking it should work the same in the CM.
Does anyone have a better way to separate suppliers in a listing?

Personally, unless you need to generate this information on an ongoing consistent basis, I would just connect through ODBC using Excel and filter on the class field and there you have your info.

If you don't have the ODBC setup, then you can also export the Vendor table (BKAPVEND) in the DI module and hten open the resulting text file in Excel and Excel will convert it for you. Use comma-delimited format.

Tongue  Can't believe I didn't think of that, because I have set up ODBC and it has worked well for  me for a number of reports.  I'm learning Access so its taking time, but this seems like a very simple one.
Thanks, Lorne!
