New stand alone from server data
12/17/04 at 13:27:25

Ok, here's an interesting one.  I am trying to migrate my current DBA files from the server to a stand alone PC for archive purposes (freeze current data as of 12/31/04).  I have copied the DBAMFG folder to the stand alone via the network, and have installed the pervasive engine from the 2004.1 CD.  I have also installed the workstation from the work station folder in DBAMFG.

When I try to start the stand alone PC off network, I get a betrieve error 11 (path error??).  There are no ~pvsw~.loc files on the stand alone PC hard drive.  However, if the standalone is on the network, DBA opens fine.  How can I get this to work without being on the network?  The stand alone pc is running win 2000.

Your help is greatly appreciated

System Manager - UT-D and do a lookup and check the path to the data files.  Each company path should be simply the folder name and a trailing backslash as in "DEFAULT\".  No leading backslash or drive letter or DBAMFG.

Yes, I have done this and there is no preceeding drive letter or backslash.

Check UT-E and make sure the Default DIctionary path is blank.  Somehow, something is looking for a path that only exists when you are connected to the network.

Another brute force approach - install a new copy of DBA to the standalone and then copy the *.B data files to the DEFAULT subfolder if that is your company or go into the new install and create company to get the folder for another company and then copy your data files to that folder.  If you are an IS Tech Subscriber, you will also need to install the IS Tech updates to the stand-alone.

Lynn,

That was it.  Path was still in the UT-E.  Works fine now.  Thanks.
