WO-O ??
01/04/05 at 09:50:06

When trying to produce a simple work order WO-I, I get the message that there are unprocessed material issues, and to go to Wo-O.  So I did, and it started mass producing the cap in the kit over and over again (25X +), until I 'esc' and stopped it.  What would cause WO-O to need to be run?  I answered 'no' to work around it to produce it, but now it won't allow me to close the WO.

WO-O needs to be run when you have components that were locked when you originally went to issue them in WO-G.  WO-O tries again.  And you can't close the WO till you get them posted.

Do you mean WO-O "mass ISSUED" the component 25X + ?  I'd look at JC-E to see exactly what's been issued, then go to WO-G, click the Lookup button and edit/delete any incorrect entries, and then finish and close it in WO-I/J.

Of course there's always the dreaded infinite-repeat virus...

YES, doing WO-O mass issued one component that had a qty of '1', and kept duplicating it until I hit the ESC key to stop it.   What is this 'dreaded infinite-repeat virus...'?
I did JC-E to see the extra production qty, and reversed the extra 32 that it produced, but I can do no more to this WO.  In WO-I or WO-J, I get the message that WO-O needs to be run in order to close it.
Guess it is obvious that we have never run WO-O ever...

You could see what is in the file used by WO-O by going to DE-J-H, it is the same file.

The DE-J-H was helpful to delete the extra entries. BUT it has happened again.  This time it repeated the cap in a WO 584 times.  What could be causing this to happen?? Very time consuming to delete the extra 583 entries one at a time in DE-J-H.

Definitely sounds like either a WO-I problem or an index in your data causing the problem.  I have had a couple of reports but you say it isn't happening every time which makes me think it might be data.  You could try reindexing the WOBOM file.

We are having this problem too.  This is not the first time we've had it.  In our system everything appears to be issued to the work order.  As a matter of fact, the part that DBA keeps issueing isn't even a part that appears on the BOM for the parent part.  Is there any way to just shut off the WO-O function?  It won't let me close the order and I need to do it right away for another report to be pulled.
     HELP!!!!
